ASIC'S ALSAGER 5 2008
Asics UK have renewed their sponsorship of the Alsager five mile road race, but have increased their profile by taking on the main race sponsorship.
Their association with the race stretches back to 1994 and is Asics longest spell of sponsorship for any race in Britain.
Their support will help to swell an impressive prize list for the Asics5 on Sunday 3rd February 2008.
The race has never been outside the top three races over the distance for over ten years and regularly attracts around 1 200 runners, making it one of the biggest mass participation races in the area.
Race Secretary Ken Rushton said,
“Asics support, along with associate sponsors Bourne sports will help to maintain our impressive prize structure. Last year we hosted an inter area competition, but the quality in the race is always high and attracts athletes from all over Britain”.
The event has attracted lots of top international runners over the years and the men’s course record held by Glynn Tromans ay 22.53, is testimony to the flat and fast nature of the course around the town of Alsager.
There is an impressive prize list on offer, with cash prizes to the leading men and women.
The race launch is at Bourne Sports on Saturday 24th November, when Asics hope to have a top named athlete present. There will be race entries available as well as some giveaways.
Both receive £175, with second placed runners taking away £125 and third £75.
Rebecca Jones Promotional Marketing Coordinator for Asics UK said,
“ASICS is the leading name in running technology, producing innovative
solutions for leading athletes and amateur enthusiasts alike. It has
been worn by leading athletes at major sporting events for over 50
years. Its success comes from continually seeking feedback from its
users to develop products to suit their needs. ASICS is proud to be the
official title sponsors of the 2008 ASICS Alsager 5 event. For more

Runners from all over the Midlands will be completing their final preparations for the London marathon when they compete in next year’s Sub4 Stafford 20 mile road race on March 9th March 2008.
The race is in its 30th year and regularly attracts over 400 competitors, coming as it does, just six weeks before the capital city 26.2 mile event.
Local running shop and biomechanical experts Sub4 were associate sponsors last year but have taken on the role of main sponsors.
Runners who may find the 20 mile distance a step too far, can still savour the atmosphere of the big event. Following the success of the last two year’s three leg relay, organisers are repeating the format again this year. Teams of three from clubs or other organisations can compete over the 8 mile and two six mile legs. There are generous prizes on offer for the winning teams, which can comprise men, women or mixed team members.
There is also a generous prize list on offer in the main race, thanks to Sub4 and the associate sponsorship of Asics UK.
All finishers will receive a special commemorative t-shirt.
Clifton Bradeley, Managing Director of Sub4 commented,
“We are pleased to be the main sponsors of the Stafford 20 and to be teaming up again with Asics. Sub-4 offers a running shoes specialist service in Staffordshire based on foot biomechanics analysis that will ensure that your choice from our extensive range of top quality running shoes and apparel is informed, practical and aesthetically pleasing. Many of our customers will be running and so it is nice to be able to say thank you to those people who come to our shop for their running needs”.
